Awaiting Flat Stanley
Myles called last night to tell me that I was going to get Flat Stanley in the mail. I didn't know anything about who or what it was all about but he said that when he came it would all be explained to me. This morning I went online and Googled "Flat Stanley" and found out all about him and can't wait for him to arrive. Hopefully he comes today because I can take him out with me tonight. For anyone who doesn't know about Flat Stanley you can find out about the project here: http://www.flatstanleyproject.net.
And for even more about it, look here: Flat Stanley - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
In short, Flat Stanley is a series of books by Jeff Brown about a boy, Stanley, who along with his brother was given a big bulletin board that was hung over his bed. At night it fell off and flattened him but he was able to have all kinds of adventures by being flat because he could get into places no one else could. The Flat Stanley Project was started in 1995 by Dale Hubert a 3rd grade teacher from London, Ontario, Canada and now in 2010 it has reached ME!!
I hope to do a good job with it. I think Myles must have chosen me because he knows that I like to take pictures, I'm not called "Grandma Flash" for nothing.

Weekend at Greta's
I drove to Greta's on Friday, leaving about 9:45, only 45 minutes later than I had planned. I would have gotten there by 3:15 if the traffic wasn't bumper to bumper as soon as I hit 95. It took me almost an hour to go what should have been 15 minutes. Fortunately I was listening to a good Jodi Picoult book, Handle with Care, although I did hate the ending. I hope she doesn't make this a common practice in all her books about kids.
Laura was supposed to meet me there but since she hadn't left at almost 1:00PM we decided she should wait until the next morning to avoid all the traffic she was destined to hit on a Friday afternoon.
When I got there Greta was finishing up her Tiger Cub scout meeting where they made cookies for some kids organization. Then she went to her Junior League event, dressed for the pajama party and I took Myles to soccer practice.
On the way home we stopped at the toy store in town for Silly Bandz but they were all out.
Beverly gave them dinner when we came home and then made popcorn for the kids to have while we watched Avatar. I dozed off for awhile while we watched the movie and Tucker fell asleep before it was over so I carried him up to bed. Greta came home while we were looking up Silly-Bandz on the internet and she said she saw them in a store that day so we looked them up, Garelick and Herbs and decided to go there for breakfast the next morning before Greta went to her next Jr. League event.
Laura arrived around 10:30 and we left for Myles baseball game at 11:30. We by chance got a parking spot right where he was playing. It turned out to be a beautiful day, perfect for sitting outside and watching the game. And for all the following games too.
Myles hit a grand slam home run, he was the last one at bat for the game.
Laura went with Greta to Hunter's tee ball game
while I took Myles and Tucker for ice cream and then home. Tucker got his ice cream after the game and Myles had to get ready for his soccer game.
After all the activities it was time for Girls Night Out to celebrate Laura's birthday and Mother's Day. We went to Lolita in Greenwich and it was great. They started you off with some grapefruit shaved ice that they poured tequila on - YUMMY!!!
We each had a delicious meal, skipped dessert but when they brought the check they brought a giant cotton candy that was also delicious.
Sunday Myles went to a birthday party and we went to Target. Hunter and Tucker had lunch there too and then we picked Myles up from the party.
We had lunch and then Laura left for Boston after a last photo session.
Greta and I took the boys for new sneakers and then went to a great park in Greenwich that had all kinds of things to play on and got Good Humor too.
Back at home after dinner it was Shrek the 3rd and then bed. School the next day.

Home at Last
We got home at 11:45 PM on Monday after driving all the way through from Georgia. By the time we reached our halfway spot it was too early to stop, we really were anxious to get home and since we weren't tired or sore we kept going. With less than 2 hours to go, I asked Larry "What's the most sore part of your body?" and he said "my butt." That was my answer too.
Once home I felt like I had just gotten off of a week on a cruise ship because it felt like constant motion.
Larry couldn't wait to go to Louie's for a haircut and for both of us it was unpacking and switch the winter and summer clothes.
I mostly just unpacked since I had to pack again to leave for Greta's on Friday.

Lifetime Membership
I went to Weight Watchers today, my first time back in Rochester since I reached my goal on March 24th, the day before we left.
I went to WW about 4 times when we were at The Villages. That was always nerve wracking because the house we stayed in didn't have a scale and I like to know approximately what I'm going to weighbefore I go.
In order to reach lifetime I had to stay within 2 pounds of my goal for 6 weeks and this was the day. YEA!!! I maintained, in fact I was even less than my goal.
When I joined Weight Watcher's there was a sign on the wall that advertised getting a job with WW when you reached lifetime. I remember telling Laura when she was doing WW that I should go, reach lifetime and get a job with them. Now it's about 3 years later and that's exactly what I'm going to do. When I saw that sign, I made that as a goal, so that I had more of a reason to lose the weight. And if I got a job with Weight Watchers then I would have to stay within my goal range. Now I was going to apply.

Brittany's Graduation - May 8
Graduation was in the evening and lasted 2 1/2 hours, finishing off with fireworks:
Then we met up to get some pictures with Britt in her cap and gown.
Alton Brown was the speaker and here is the speech, not much to the video though.
The next day Britt had a party at the house. Then in mid June she's off to trek around Europe before going to UVM for her Masters.

The Way We Were
Just surfing the web today and found this after being on the Broadway site first for Come Fly Away and then Promises, Promises which took me to YouTube and found this performance of my favorite song.
Fog Fog Go Away
The fog really rolled in this morning.
This is the view looking toward the lake.
And this is looking at the green where one of the maintenance guys is doing a quick mow.
However, it is supposed to burn off and get sunny this afternoon and in the upper 80s.

Rain Rain Go Away
And it did.
Yesterday it rained the entire day. There were big floods in Nashville, TN but we just watched a little stream form on the way to the 5th tee while sitting on Michael's deck. What a lazy day. I spent the whole day on the computer trying to plan a European vacation for next year. And then we watched 24.
Today is sunny and in the 80s. In the house I'm freezing but outside I'm in my glory. I've been wearing a fleece all day. Bree came over today and we went to lunch in Greensboro. There's a post office there and we had to mail a bunch of cards and I also had to mail the antimacassar (I had to look up the definition of what this is called by googling cloth on back of chair) back to Pam at The Villages. I accidentally picked it up with all my jackets that I had lain over the back of the chair before we left. The place we went to for lunch, The Yesterday Cafe has a comfort food menu that includes fried green tomatoes, chicken fried chicken (special for today - Bree and Larry got that), country fried steak, grouper - fried, grilled or blackened (I got the blackened) and Buttermilk Pie for dessert. Our meals were part of the Blue Plate Specials so we also got 2 sides and cornbread with them. We were too full for dessert so we walked around town, went to the post office and an antique store - http://www.antiquesofthelake.com/ where we each found something to get.
Later back at the house Larry and I took a walk around to the Lake Villas to get some exercise but we took the shortcut back along the cart path of the hole that is next to Michael's. We still got in a 40 minute walk which we both needed since we've spent so many days just sitting around.

Meg's Graduation
We're at Meg's graduation at the University of Michigan. It starts in 2 hours. At least it stopped raining. Hopefully it stays that way, but we're all set with our rain gear.
President Obama gave another one of his excellent speeches although the Governor could have not politicized her speech and spoke concerning the graduates and not make it "all about her".
After Meg's graduation we met for lunch at Zingerman's Roadhouse.
and then went into town and bought some Michigan momentos - hats, t-shirts, etc. After shopping it was back to the hotel for some down time before heading to the airport. Our flight was on time, we didn't have rain on either end and were back at the house a little after 11:00.
