A Day Off

Thursday, instead of driving to Phillie, we took Myles and Hunter to camp, after a stop at the Dump,
and Greta and I had a restful day.  She did a jog and I walked and then we met at the pool.  While I was walking I saw a signpost with the identification of some birds on it.  This bird is one I saw while walking at Tod's Point.  I didn't know what it was but found it by searching on the internet.  It was a Black-crowned Night Heron as seen below.
It was a tough day lying at the pool (NOT!!) but it was pretty hot out and we had to go in every now and then.
We had a great salad for lunch.  After camp, Hunter had a play date with a friend in Port Chester and Myles stayed for his Futures Team practice (pre Swim Team).
Had a little time to kill before getting Hunter so we had a little something to drink and then we stopped at Michaels for some beads for stringing.
Myles hair looked red from the umbrella reflection
Greta had a hair appointment and we were going to drop off Myles and Hunter and take Tucker with us instead.  But the traffic was so bad that we didn't have time to detour home.  We all went with Greta, watched her for a while and then went across the street to have dinner.  First we stopped at Walgreens and got some MORE Silly Bandz.  By the time we got home it was 8:00 and Tucker was already asleep.

Hot in the City

Wednesday I rode on the train into the city with Greta.
When we got to Grand Central she went on to the subway to go to work and I went outside and started to walk toward Penn Station to meet Nadine.
We met on 34th Street between Park and Fifth and then headed over to Bloomberg Tower where Greta was going to give us a tour.
This was taken outside on the deck
This was inside on the same level
After our tour we went uptown to Rich's office on 96th and Park and then went for lunch at a delicious Indian restaurant around the corner.   We spent over 2 hours catching up and then after saying our goodbyes, Nadine and I took the crosstown bus to Broadway and then the subway to Aunt Harrie's.  We were there until almost 6 and after dropping Nadine off at 34th for Penn Station I continued to Times Square where I got the already waiting shuttle to Grand Central and boarded the train that was leaving in 5 minutes.
I thought Greta was taking an earlier train but as it turned out, she took the train after mine.  We met at the train station in OG and went home after a long day.

We were supposed to visit Emily the next day but after getting home so late the thought of getting up and driving 3 hours to Philadelphia was not appealing so we cancelled out.

Visit to Greta

I arrived at Greta's at 4:00 PM.  No one was home except the workmen.  I should take some pictures of what they're doing so I'll know for the next time.
Bev came home with the boys about an hour later and when Greta came home we went for a boat ride.
It was an absolutely perfect night to be out.
We saw the house from the water
and then where we moored the boat we saw a big jelly fish
 The sunset was . . .

Appeitizers for dinner

It was appetizers for dinner tonight.
Below are my favorite snacks that we had along with cheese, and raw broccoli and  cauliflower with fat free dip.  Margaritas went along with all as we sat out on the deck for a beautiful evening after playing 9 holes.

When we went in the house we had fruit as our main course.  Fresh pineapple, cantaloupe and strawberries.

What a perfect day.  Now I have to start getting organized for my trip to Greta's on Tuesday since I have golf tomorrow with the ladies.
Kathy and Milt are coming over for chair sitting tomorrow night (and cocktails).

Planked Salmon

We had a great dinner on the deck although it was quite warm out.
Cedar planked salmon, oh so moist and delicious, along with grilled zucchini, yellow squash and baked sweet potato.

Where did June go??

The whole month of June just disappeared and I hardly wrote a thing.  Well, for the first part of the month I was busy with the Flat Stanley Blog www.flatstanley-webster.blogspot.com  and then I started making a book from the blog and then, and then . . .  well you know how it goes.

I got a job with Weight Watchers as a receptionist the beginning of the month and started my training two weeks ago.  I'm really excited about this and looking forward to starting my new career.

Since I barely have any clothes that fit, and especially since I need to look halfway decent for work, I've gone shopping a bunch of times.  Mostly found tops and a couple of pants.

The downstairs is done.  We picked out carpeting and it was installed last Wednesday and then we picked out paint colors.  We did the family room in a dark brown and it looks beautiful.  The bedroom we did in a darkish tan since we wanted the room to look brighter and that looks good too.  Tomorrow we're getting a new bed for our room, that bed will go downstairs with a new headboard/footboard and then we're DONE!!!!
